Celbridge Community Council  2nd Annual Golf Classic – 26th April 2013

Celbridge Community Council held it’s 2nd Annual Golf Classic in aid of Care for the Aged on Friday 26th April at the K-Club Straffan, which was once again very well supported by sponsors of teams, tee-boxes and prizes. The Care for the Aged committee and Celbridge Community Council wishes to express a very sincere thank you to  all our sponsors - local businesses, individuals, schools, politicians – for their generous support. Also our thanks to all our prize sponsors – K-Club GC, Glasson GC, Beech Park GC, Westmanstown GC, Elm Hall GC, Celbridge Golf Range and to  John Lyons and his staff at the K-Club for looking after our golfers and our group on the day. A sum of almost €4,000.00 was raised for the Care for the Aged.

Weather wise we were again fairly lucky but some of our hardy golfers experienced some trying weather conditions from rain/hail, cutting wind to some sunshine but they all soldiered on to the 18th hole and eventually to the 19th. Once again our golf expert and score keeper Sean McKeown gave his times generously on the day to ensure proceedings were looked after under his expert eye, Sean thank you very much.

After a great day’s golf David Gallen’s Team took the honours with a score of 91 points,

team members included  David and Joe Gallen, and Gary and David Power A feature of the day was the score of Richard O’Donovan who shot nine birdies in his round. Richard plays off plus 5 and is a player to keep in mind if and when he chooses to join the professional ranks. The other prize winning teams were; Tom Fox Heating & Plumbing,  Print Scan,  Sean O’Grady, Liam McNamee and Maxol Filling Station.

The prizes were presented by John Mcloughlin Chairman of Celbridge Community Council to the winners. Our picture shows John McLoughlin presenting David Gallen and his team with their prize.

From all reports everyone enjoyed the day and are already looking forward to next year’s event.
